
When Joe Philbin’s offense hits the field for the first time, the wide receivers will likely be used differently than they have been in recent memory.
Though there may be some external chatter about the lack of a true alpha receiver, veterans Davone Bess and Brian Hartline will likely get the opportunity to shoulder the load.
With Brandon Marshall’s departure, the Dolphins are widely expected to add a wide receiver in this month’s draft.
It is yet to be seen, however, if Miami would be willing to add a prototypical No. 1 wide receiver in the first round of such a receiver-loaded draft. The picture may becoming a little clearer, though, as the Dolphins prepare to host former Notre Dame standout Michael Floyd.
With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I figured we’d take a look at eight things that could happen when the Dolphins get ready to use the eighth pick on April 26th. I’ve attempted to categorize them three ways: “good chance,” “possible chance” and “slim chance,” though those categories are just my own opinions. With that, here you go, eight things that could happen at number eight (in no particular order):
Good Chance
- The Dolphins draft Ryan Tannehill: I say this is a good chance and every.
With his roster beginning to take shape in advance of April’s draft, Joe Philbin has started building a team’s foundation for the first time as a head coach.
Philbin joined The Finsiders to talk about his plans for his new team and a potential quarterback competiton heading into the 2012 season. Even though the Dolphins were committed to adding a quarterback in the offseason, incumbent starter Matt Moore is not discouraged.
