Sam Madison’s Top 10 CB’s

Sam Madison knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a great corner.

The off-season is a great time for silly debates. Who is the fastest receiver? Which team has the toughest schedule? Who’s the best available free agent? These are all fun questions to argue about as we wait around (im)patiently for the start of the 2011 season.

Sam Madison, like the rest of us, is waiting. One of the best defensive players in Dolphins history, Sam finished his 12-year NFL career with 38 interceptions and a Super Bowl ring with the Giants. Today, he presents what he says is the list of the 10 best corners in the game today.

Sam Madison’s Top 10 CB’s

10) Chris Johnson AND Standford Routt of the Oakland Raiders. We will see if letting Nnamdi Asomugha test the market was crazy or if they see something we don’t. TBD

9) Ron Bartell of the St. Louis Rams. Has all the tools. Size, speed, football I.Q. Playing for a losing team in the NFC West makes him somewhat anonymous, but he’s real good. Heads up.

8 ) Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie of Arizona or soon to be… ? But whatever. Could be higher but was the worst tackling corner in the league. Cards like rookie corners. Patrick Peterson is in town.

7) Champ Bailey of Denver in Mile High. When healthy he will battle for that top spot. Nothing he can’t do. Speed? He still has it.

6) Vontae Davis of your Miami Dolphins right here at Davie Camp, when he gets here! The sleeper of the group. Has to make more plays with the DB’s in this AFC East.

5) Asante Samuel with the Philadelphia Eagles. The best playmaker on the list. Just does things his way and makes it look as if he is gambling. Andy Reid don’t complain.

4) The G-Men’s Corey Webster. Gets over looked because he is not flamboyant. A really good man to man cover corner. Needs to play all 16 games.

3) Charles Woodson of the Green Bay Packers. Mr. Everything. Takes TE’s or wideouts out of the game in crunch time.

2) Darrelle Revis of the Jets. Could be #1 but I couldn’t!!!! What you call an O.C.’s worst nightmare.

1) Nnamdi Asomugha soon to be FA from the Oakland Raiders. Never gets challenged. That says a lot. Keep your eyes out for where he lands. Thumbs up or down for letting him go?

Who do YOU think is the best CB in the NFL?
