Game Recap: Dolphins 20, Redskins 9

[1]The Dolphins (2-7) picked up their first home win since Week 10 of last year, 364 days ago, and also won consecutive games for the first time since the first two games of 2010, thanks to a 20-9 win over the Washington Redskins (3-6) this afternoon.

Reggie Bush didn’t have as big a statistical day as he did last week, but he scored both of Miami’s touchdowns and Dan Carpenter added a pair of field goals as the Dolphins kept the Redskins at arm’s length most of the day.

Quarterback Matt Moore, meanwhile, followed up his AFC Offensive Player of the Week game with an efficient performance, completing 20 of 29 passes for 209 yards. He did not throw a touchdown and was intercepted once.

On the other side, Washington made a last-minute switch at quarterback, but Rex Grossman (replacing John Beck) wasn’t much of a threat and finished his day 21 of 32 for 215 yards, no TD’s and two picks.

The bright spot for the Skins offensively was rookie WR Leonard Hankerson, who grew up in South Florida and attended the University of Miami. Hankerson caught eight passes for 106 yards but left the game late with a right hip strain.

The two Grossman interceptions were particularly encouraging, as both CB Vontae Davis and LB Karlos Dansby were able to pick passes off. The INT was the first of the year for Davis and sixth of his career.

The Dolphins will try and make it three in a row next week when they host the reeling Buffalo Bills at Sun Life Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 o’clock.
