Bears 16, Dolphins 0

The Miami Dolphins saw their home record fall to 1-4 and their overall mark in 2010 drop to 5-5 thanks to a 16-0 loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday night. With third string quarterback Tyler Thigpen under center, the Fins had one of their worst offensive games of the season, setting lows in rushing yards (39), first downs (10), and of course points. It was the first time the Fins were shutout since a November 2007 loss at Pittsburgh and the first time at home since the Jets won here 24-0 nine years ago today.

Adding injury to insult, wide receiver Brandon Marshall left the game late in the second quarter with a hamstring injury that prevented him from returning to the game, and Cory Procter, starting at center for the injured Joe Berger, left the game in the Dolphins’ second series of the night, with a knee injury.

Jay Cutler and the Bears didn’t exactly light the world on fire offensively, as they kicked three field goals and scored a late touchdown. Cutler finished 16-of-25 for 156 yards, with no touchdowns and an interception, numbers that were pretty similar to Thigpen’s (17-of-29, 187, no touchdowns, and an interception).
