Lions 34, Dolphins 27

The Miami Dolphins came into today’s game against the Detroit Lions looking for their second home win of the season and things looked good with five minutes left and the Dolphins on top 27-17. A 53-yard Jahvid Best TD catch and two Chad Henne interceptions later, though, the Fins found themselves down 34-27 and facing a chorus of boos from the home crowd.
The Fins took over on their own 8-yard line just before the two minute warning and advanced the ball as far as the Lions’ 28 before Ronnie Brown’s negative one-yard reception allowed time to expire with the Fins finishing the 2010 season with a 1-7 record at Sun Life Stadium.
For the Lions, the win means three-straight for the first time in forever and just seven days after snapping a road losing streak that dated back to 2007, they picked up their second straight victory away from the Motor City.
Aside from the late picks, one of which was returned 30 yards by DeAndre Levy for a touchdown, Henne completed 29-of-44 passes for 278 yards and a touchdown. On the other side, Shaun Hill was just 14-of-26 for 222 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Brandon Marshall had his second straight big game (10 catches for 102 yards), but it was the Dolphins’ inability to take any time off the clock with a 10-point lead in the 4th quarter that allowed the Lions to hang around and eventually win the game.
Miami will play their 17th and final game of the season next Sunday in New England as they try and salvage a .500 record on the year.
